Not Much Happening
Life has slowed down a bit for me now with no hockey. Other than the pile of assignments that are due for the last week of classes, I havent really done too much. I have finished my e-portfoilio, and the address for it is, http://homepage.usask.ca/~krs449/Index.html . The Stanley Cup playoffs are just around the corner, and there are some tight playoff races happening. My picks to come out of the east are Boston or Jersey, and Detroit or Calgary out of the west. I can see second round knockouts for both San Jose, and Washington. Philly could also be a threat to come out of the east. Those are my predictions, you heard it here first.

Whats new?
The Drake Canucks lost game 3 of the provincial final to the Macklin Mohawks by score of 4-3. The game was fast paced and entertained the 1200+ fans in attendance. The 50/50 was given away at a value over $4000.
On another note, I had a short mid-week holiday last week in Las Vegas. My girlfriend Katie and I flew out on monday, and missed our connecting flight in Denver due to a gongshow in customs. We ended up making it Las Vegas that night five hours later than scheuled after catching another flight to Los Angeles then the Las Vegas. The weather was good, and the pool at the hotel was excellent. We stayed at the Luxor, which I would recommend. We did not go to any shows, but we did lots of gambling, shopping, sight seeing, and enjoying cold beer by the pool.

The Canucks season all comes down to one game. The Canucks traveled to Macklin on friday to lose a heartbreaker in double OT. The arena was packed and loud with a 50/50 worth almost $2000. The series then moved back to Drake on saturday night where the Canucks won by a score of 3-1. The best of 3 series for the provincial final now will all be decided in a single game on saturday March 28th in Macklin at 8:30 pm. On another subject I am also traveling to Las Vegas on monday and returning thursday.

Using technology in the classroom
I am definately an advocate for incorporating technology into the classroom. I think there ample opportunities to incorporate technology into any subject area. In the practical and applied arts strain, an excellent way to incorporate technology would be to use current online instructional videos. Videos can be shown to the entire class through projectors or to individuals who have specific questions through computer screens. Math classes can also incorporate technology quite effectively. A smartboard is an excellent technological instructional tool in math. I look forward to incorporating these tools into my teaching.

Integrating a Blog Into the Classroom
A blog can be a useful way to communicate with a large group of people. Because a classroom is a large group of people I believe that there are some excellent ways to integrate the two. I PAA a blog would be a great place to post pictures and articles about projects that students have created. It is also a great way to show parents whats going on in class. I believe that many parents would like to see the projects and activities in the shop. In the classroom it would be ideal for posting assignments, creating discussion, and informing parents of the activities happening in the classroom.

Canucks score big on the weekend
The Drake Canucks are moving on to the Southern Provincial Final (I know it's a load of balogne that Drake ended up in the south part of draw while Nokomis was placed in the north, and Nokomis is located 20 miles due south of Drake.) Drake defeated the defending provincial champs (the Kyle Elks) in a two game total point by a score 11-8. Drake lost the first game in Kyle by a score of 4-3, then returned to Drake to hammer on Kyle by a score of 8-4. Drake is still tied with Leroy in league play at 1-1. That series resumes on tuesday for game 3 in Leroy, and thursday for game 4 back in Drake.

Wikipedia Entry
I made an entry on a Wikipedia regarding hockey. I noticed that there was a brief article on the "neutral zone trap" that was quite vague and I believe to be inaccurate. I made my own posting on what a neutral zone trap is, and how an attacking team should go about getting past a neautral zone trap. The article I posted was under the Ice Hockey category discussion at the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ice_hockey#Neutral_Zone_Trap
Essay Proposal
I decided to pick one of the sample topics to write my essay on. The topic I chose to investigate is weather access to technology improves learning. I am an advocate for technology and believe that incorporating technology into the classroom can have excellent benefits in relating material to students and increasing interest and engagement. I do also realize that there can setbacks if technology is relied upon or overused. In my research paper I will investigate advantages and disadvantages of technology. I am also intereseted in looking into ways of providing evidence that technology does have both positive and negative effects in education.

Latest News for the Canucks
The Drake Canucks are about to enter the grueling post season of senior hockey. They underachieved throughout the regular season due to a lack of bodies, heart, and determination. The Canucks kick off thier post season league games against the Davidson Cyclones on mon feb 9th and wed feb 11th, which unfortunatley happens to be the same night as Jay Wilsons legendary ECMM 470 course. Drake then travels to Strasburg on friday night to start a home and home on the weekend to open up their first round of provincial playoffs.
